The personalized hardcover book Oliver's New Glasses

For the kid who's worried friends will laugh

Before glasses, the world was blurry. After, it had a hero.

4.9/5Average parent rating across elaab books

A first pair of glasses weighs heavy on a little heart: a new face in the mirror, new stares at preschool. This book turns glasses into a superpower, not a flaw. With them, your child sees what others miss — and discovers that the most beautiful details were waiting for them all along.

What's the story?

Your child wakes up in a soft-edged world, where Mom's face is fuzzy from across the room and the stars outside the window won't come into view. Then the glasses arrive, and everything snaps into focus at once: clouds have edges, stars have points, and the faces of the people they love are suddenly clear. So when someone asks about their glasses, your child already has an answer ready — because they read it in their book.

How is the book personalized?

Send us your child's name and a clear photo of their face. We turn the photo into an illustrated character who appears on every page, and print their name on the cover and throughout the story. You'll get a PDF of the full book within 24 hours of ordering to review with us. Nothing goes to print until you approve it.

When the hero on the cover is them

There's a difference between a book about a child who wears glasses and a book about your child wearing their glasses: one is information, the other is a mirror. When they find their own face and their own glasses on the cover, the glasses stop being something that happened to them and become something that's theirs. That small shift is all they need.

Written to be read at preschool, too

Lots of parents have sent the book to preschool with their kids in that first week of glasses, so the teacher could read it to the class. That's why the sentences are short and made for reading aloud, and why the book ends with a question that opens a conversation instead of closing one.

Questions about “My New Glasses”

Will the glasses be drawn exactly like my child's?

We match them as closely as we can — the overall shape and color — based on the photo you send. If you have a specific request, just add it to your order notes.

What kind of photo do you need?

A clear photo of the face in natural light is all it takes — a phone photo is perfect. Avoid dark photos or ones where the face is turned to the side. If the photo won't work, we'll tell you and ask for another before we start.

Can I add a dedication on the first page?

Yes. Write us the dedication you'd like — a line or a paragraph — and we'll print it on the first page in elegant type. It's the page parents come back to years later.

What language is the book in?

English — short, warm sentences made for reading aloud, with your child's name on the cover and throughout the story. You'll see the cover in the free preview, and the whole book in the proof before we print.

What if I don't love the book?

We don't print anything until you've seen the digital proof and approved it. And if your printed book arrives with a printing defect, we'll reprint and ship it again for free.
